10 24 010 TWENTY FIVE MILES PER HOUR, AUTHORITY TO INCREASE LIMIT <br />10 24 020 SIXTY FIVE MILES PER HOUR, AUTHORITY TO DECREASE <br />10 24 030 PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS <br />10 24 040 BOUNDARY STREETS <br />10 24 010 TWENTY FIVE MILES PER HOUR, AUTHORITY TO INCREASE LIMIT <br />A Pursuant to section 22357(a) of the California Vehicle Code, whenever the city council <br />detennines upon the basis of a traffic engineering investigation that a greater speed would <br />facilitate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic and would be safe upon any street <br />otherwise subject to a prima facie limit of twenty five (25) mules per hour under the Vehicle <br />Code, the city council shall determine and declare, by ordinance, a higher pri na facie speed <br />limit and direct the City Engineer to erect and maintain signs upon such street as provided in <br />the California Vehicle Code, indicating the appropriate prnna facie limit Such signs may be <br />supplemented by appropriate pavement markings <br />B Whenever the city council upon the basis of a traffic engineering investigation finds that the <br />conditions, because of which a speed limit has been determined as provided in subsection A <br />of this section, no longer exist, the city council shall by ordinance direct the City Engineer to <br />remove such signs and markings from such street and appropriately reevaluate the speed limit <br />10 24 020 SIXTY FIVE MILES PER HOUR, AUTHORITY TO DECREASE <br />A Pursuant to section 22358 of the Vehicle Code, whenever the city council determines upon <br />the basis of a traffic engineering investigation that the prima facie limit of sixty five (65) <br />miles per hour is more than is reasonable or safe upon any street or highway where such prima <br />facie limit of sixty five (65) miles per hour is applicable under the Vehicle Code the city <br />council shall determine and declare, by ordinance, a lower prima facie limit which is <br />appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and is reasonable and safe and direct <br />the City Engineer to erect and maintain signs upon such street or highway as provided in the <br />Vehicle Code indicating the appropriate speed limit Such signs may be supplemented by <br />appropriate pavement markings <br />B Whenever the city council, upon the basis of a traffic engineering investigation, finds that the <br />conditions, because of which a speed limit has been determined as provided in subsection A <br />of this section no longer exist, the city council shall, by ordinance, direct the City Engineer to <br />remove such signs and markings from such street and appropriately reevaluate the speed <br />limit " <br />Section 3 Section 10 24 030, entitled "Prima Facie Speed Limits," is hereby added to <br />the Redlands Municipal Code to read as follows <br />"10 24 030 PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS <br />2 <br />I IOrdinancesWos 2800-2899 m Word12867 Traffic Pattern 2018 Clean.doc <br />
