<br /> on both sides, and between Clark Street and Fern Avenue on both sides, to begin

<br /> ;• A petition was received, signed by George W. Ely, asking the Board to re-open
<br /> Crescent Avenue, between Breed Street and Morrison Avenue, which was read and laid
<br /> over, owing to a misunderstanding entertained by the petitioner of where the street
<br /> actually was that the Board closed.
<br /> The Committee appointed at the last meeting to whom was referred the matter of
<br /> reviewing the assessment made by the Commissioners for opening a new street, extend-
<br /> ing westerly from Parkwood Road to Center Street , reported that they could not find
<br /> any particular error in the , assessment, but were somewhat divided in their recom-
<br /> mendations to the Board. A protest was then read, signed by W. R. Baughman et
<br /> pls, against the opening of said street, which precipitated a general discussion,
<br /> and after considering the matter, it was decided to lay the whole matter over, one
<br /> week.
<br /> • Mr. J. F. Redhead appeared and urged the Board to proceed in the matter of
<br /> - opening Home Place , west of Fourth Street, which would require the taking of thirty
<br /> feet of land purchased by him for said purpose , and offered the said land necessary
<br /> for such street extension, for the amount actually paid by him in cash together with
<br /> taxes, aggregating the sum of $360. The proposition was considered a fair one and
<br /> the street a public necessity in the near future, and on motion, the City Attorney
<br /> was instructed to bring in the necessary resolution at the next meeting, ordering
<br /> said Street to be opened.
<br /> Dr. Wheat, Secretary of the Board of Health, made a request for a new building
<br /> for quarantine purposes, according to a plan prepared by the Street Superintendent.
<br /> Owing to the condition of finances, the Board were averse to ordering any new work
<br /> done, but the necessity of this building and the saving in expenses to the City, as
<br /> • shown by the bills incurred last year for quarantine purposes, made it clear to the
<br /> Board that said building should be constructed. It was ordered that the same be
<br /> constructed according to said plans, it being understood that the Street Superin-
<br /> tendent should proceed with the work.
<br /> - Fire Chief Brown, requested that a few supplies be furnished for his department
<br /> such as a new nozzle and some rubber coats. He also asked a donation from the city
<br /> towards the expense of purchasing new uniforms for members of the Fire Department,
<br /> and stated that the cost of caps and coats was estimated at $5.00 per man. Referred
<br /> to, Fire Committee with power, to act .
<br /> This being the time for opening bids for the construction of a sewer upon
<br /> Sonora and Nordina and La Verne Streets, the following bids were received*
<br /> First, was taken up the construction of a certain line of sewer work ordered on
<br /> ,• Nordina and La Verne Streets, under Resolu io o.. _.t- t . . , , 22, One bid from
<br /> Fleming and White, offering to do said work for $1.40 per linear foot and accom-
<br /> panying said bid was their certified check in the sum of $191.10. One bid from
<br /> Ernest Frenzel' , offering to do said work for $1143 . and accompanying said bid was
<br /> a certified check in the sum of $115. One bid from A. Grindl, offering to do said
<br /> work for the sum of $1490. and said bid was accompanied by certified check in the
