M. l <br /> A regular meeting of the City Council, City of Redlands, California, held <br /> at the regular place of meeting. <br /> I <br /> Present: Councilmen Clapp3 Cranston, -Maccubbin; Spoor and Mayor Bruggemeyler, <br /> CO the Deputy City Clerk, Treasurer, Attorney and Engineer. <br /> O Absent: None. <br /> a <br /> dThe minutes of the last- regular. meeting-were read -and approved. <br /> The Mayor stated that the Council was ready-to hear from anyone having <br /> matters. to present. No one responding, he called for-the-opening-of proposals for a <br /> • tractor for the Street Department. <br /> _____BMS <br /> (Tractor) <br /> The following proposals were submitted, publicly opened and declared: <br /> Diesel Gasoline <br /> Freeland Tractor & Equipment Co.-Caterpillar $ 2714.05 $ 2343.25 (tax incl. <br /> J. D. Adams Company —International 2716.75 2329.75 (Tax extra) <br /> Curtis V. Edwards =Cletrac 2.528.65 1957.00 (tax incl) <br /> each figure quoted being the regular retail price. Representatives of the different <br /> Companies were present and explained in detail the workings of the various machines- to <br /> Council members and the Engineer. After due consideration, upon motion of Councilman <br /> Spoor, seconded by Councilman Maccubbin, duly adopted, the awarding of the contract was <br /> deferred until the next regular meeting, allowing time for further investigation. <br /> (Colton Avenue Pipe Line) <br /> Proposals for 3600' of 4° -12 -gauge Welded Steel Pipe werasubmitted"per <br /> the request of the City Engineer as follows: <br /> American Pipe & Steel Corporation <br /> West Coast Pipe & Steel Company <br /> Southern Pipe & Casing Company • <br /> ,,DWestern Pipe & Steel Company <br /> D Consolidated Steel Corporation, Ltd. <br /> All bids were the same ($.27) per lineal foot. The Mayor questioned the legality of <br /> purchases being made by the City in amounts over $300.00 without first calling forbids, <br /> but felt the immediate need in this particular case in order to complete the project <br /> • under W. P. A. Councilman Clapp recommended and moved that the pipe be 'purchased for <br /> immediate delivery from the American Pipe & Steel Corporation, Ltd. , seconded by Council- <br /> man Maccubbin and duly adopted. <br /> (Lubricating Oil) <br /> A proposal of the Standard Oil Company of California for supplying the <br /> City with lubricating oil for the year ending Decenber 31, 1937, was presented. lo-bids <br /> having been called for, upon recommendation of the Mayor and motion of Councilman Clapp, <br /> seconded by Councilman Cranston, the Clerk was directed to advertise for bidssupplying <br /> the City with lubricating oil for the period ending December 31, 1937, to be opened. at <br /> the next regular meeting, January 20, 1937.
