Parker, Mayor <br /> Waldo F. Burroughs, Vice Mayor <br /> Norman N. Martinez, Councilman <br /> R. Winn Ward, Councilman <br /> Harry G. Wilson, Councilman <br /> Edward F. Taylor, City Attorney <br /> Harry R. Whaley, City Clerk <br /> Ralph P. Merritt, Jr., Assistant City Manager <br /> Hazel M. Soper, Deputy Clerk <br /> ABSENT: Fred H. Workman, City Manager <br /> • The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by the invocation by <br /> Reverend Aaron Eurich, Temple Baptist Church. <br /> Minutes of the regular meeting of August 21 and of the adjourned regular meeting of <br /> August 28, 1961, approved as submitted. <br /> CC <br /> tr BIAS <br /> This being the time and place advertised for the opening of bids on 1,500 feet of steel <br /> CC <br /> pipe for the Water Division, Department of Public Works, the following bids were publicly <br /> Pipe for opened and declared: <br /> Department <br /> Public Works Armco Drainage and Metal Products $6,598.80 <br /> Smith-Scott Company, Inc. 6,676.80 <br /> Southern Pipe and Casing 6,390.00 <br /> These bids were referred to the Department of Public Works for study. Later in the <br /> meeting the recommendation was returned that the bid of the Southern Pipe and Casing Co. <br /> in the amount of $6,390.00, being the lowest qualified bid submitted and meeting all speci- <br /> fications, be accepted. On motion of Councilman Martinez, seconded by Councilman Burroughs, <br /> this recommendation was approved by the City Council. <br /> Bids had also been called for this time and date and place on a 40-foot Aerial Tower for <br /> the Park Department and at this time the following bids were publicly opened and declared: <br /> Aerial Tower- <br /> Park <br /> Department Calavar Corporation $9,055.86 plus taxes <br /> (alternate) 8,992.11 " <br /> Harron, Rickard and McCone 8,035.00 " <br /> • Santa Fe Equipment Co., Inc. 9,825.00 " <br /> Jumbo Equipment 7,349.81 taxes included <br /> McCabe and Powers Body Company 8,218.00 " " <br /> These bids were also referred for study, with the recommendation later returned that the <br /> bid of the Jumbo Equipment Company, in the amount of $7,349.81, being the lowest qualified <br /> bid submitted and meeting all specifications, be accepted. On motion of Councilman Ward, <br /> seconded by Councilman Martinez, the recommendation as submitted was unanimously approved <br /> by the City Council. <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> This being the time and date and place set for public hearing on Resolution No. 2139, a <br /> resolution of the City of Redlands declaring intention to order the vacation of a portion <br /> Resolution of South Venue as described in said resolution, Mayor Parker at this time declared the <br /> No. 2139 <br /> meeting open as a public hearing for the purpose of hearing any protests or objections <br /> to the proposed street vacation. None being forthcoming, the public hearing was declared <br /> 411 closed. <br />
