5 � <br /> • <br /> BIDS <br /> This being the time and place advertised for the opening of bids for the Highland Avenue <br /> Highland pumping plant building, the following bids were publicly opened and declared: <br /> K. E. Peterson, Inc. San Bernardino $30,325.00 <br /> Avenue Richard Holmes Riverside 39,744.00 <br /> Pumping Plant California Steel & Construction Los Angeles 28,977.00 <br /> Building Joe Mays Loma Linda 30,519.00 <br /> These bids were referred to the Department of Public Works for study, with recommendation ' <br /> and award to be made at the next regular meeting of the City Council on Octiber 3, 1961. <br /> On motion of Councilman Burroughs, seconded by Councilman Martinez, the City Clerk was <br /> Bid call - <br /> automobiles authorized to call for bids on six automobiles for the Police Department. Bids called <br /> • for October 3, 1961. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING <br /> This being the time and date and place set for public hearing on Resolution No. 2147, a <br /> resolution of the City of Redlands giving notice of intention of the City to annex certain <br /> L., Resolution <br /> CC No. 2147 uninhabited territory designated as "Annexation District No. 11", Mayor Parker at this <br /> tr.w <br /> time declared the meeting open as a public hearing for the purpose of hearing any protests <br /> GC <br /> Annexation or objections to the proposed annexation. None being forthcoming, the public hearing <br /> District <br /> No. 11 was declared closed. <br /> Ordinance No. 1178, an ordinance of the City of Redlands approving the annexation of certain <br /> OY dinance <br /> No. 1178 uninhabited territory designated as "Annexation District No. 11", introduced by the City <br /> Attorney, given first reading and laid over under the rules. <br /> APPLICATIONS AND PETITIONS <br /> From Mr. Leslie F. Laeger, 1629 Orange Street, a requestf or permission to sell Christmas <br /> L. F. Laeger-trees on a vacant lot adjacent to his home. Because this would be a commercial use in a <br /> sell <br /> Christmas residential district and might establish an undesirable precedent, the request was denied <br /> trees <br /> on motion of Councilman Burroughs, seconded by Councilman Ward, with the suggestion that <br /> perhaps Mr. Laeger would be able to find a lot in the proper zone. <br /> From W. F. Maxwell Company, General Engineering Contractors, Fontana, California, a request <br /> W.F. Maxwell-for temporary water service connections at the bridge construction sites of Alabama Street <br /> temporary <br /> • <br /> water and of California Street, in connection with freeway construction, approved on motion of <br /> service <br /> Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Burroughs. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> At a regular meeting of the Planning Commission held September 12, 1961, the following <br /> recommendations were submitted for Council consideration: <br /> 1. Variance No. 89 - Ralph A. Nichols <br /> That the request of Ralph A. Nichols for variance in an A-2 (Estate <br /> Agricultural) District at the southwest corner of Marion Avenue and <br /> Marvin Avenue to create 3 lots of approximately 1 acre instead of the <br /> required 1z acre minimum be approved in accordance with reason as set <br /> forth in Planning Commission minutes dated September 12, 1961. On <br /> motion of Councilman Burroughs, seconded by Councilman Wilson, this <br /> recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved by the City Council. <br /> 2. R. P. C. No. 166 - Zone Change No. 40 <br /> That R. P. C. No. 166 - a resolution of the Redlands Planning Commission <br /> for adoption of Zone Change No. 40 of Zoning Map of Ordinance No. 1000, <br /> 411 accepted by the City Council.
