Merritt: <br />I enjoyed meeting you yesterday and talking with wed, <br />Miss Dale, and yourself about the salary survey work which you are <br />contemplating. In addition, the discussion of our personal experi- <br />ences during and after luncheon was most interesting. <br />After considering the scope of the work which you outlined, <br />I have based my cost estimate upon the following proposal: <br />1. To review the internal alignment of the 81 classes <br />of positions, both vertically and horizontally. <br />2. To propose such changes in that alignment as are <br />deemed. appropriate. <br />3. To discuss the recommended alignment of positions <br />with you, the City Manager, and the various depart- <br />ment heads, and to make such adjustments as are <br />deemed advisable in the light of any additional <br />facts which are disclosed during such discussions. <br />4. To conduct a survey of prevailing salaries and wages <br />paid in private industry and in other governmental <br />jurisdictions in the general vicinity of the City of <br />Redlands, as well as in California cities of compar- <br />able size. <br />5. To prepare and submit five copies of my report and <br />recommendations on the above to the City Council and <br />the City Mlanager. <br />6. To confer with the City Council and the City Manager <br />concerning such report and recommendations and to <br />provide such explanation as is deemed advisable. <br />kty consulting fee for providing the above mentioned service <br />will be $980.
