CITY OF REDLANDS AND THE REDLANDS PROFESSIONAL <br />FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION SIDE LETTER OF AGREEMENT (2021) <br />This Side Letter of Agreement amending the July 1, 2018 — June 30, 2023 Memorandum of <br />Understanding between the Redlands Professional Firefighters Association (RPFA) and the City <br />of Redlands ("City") is made and entered into this 6th day of April, 2021. RPFA and the City are <br />sometimes individually referred to herein as a "Party" and, together, as the "Parties." <br />RECITALS <br />WHEREAS, on December 5, 2017, RPFA and the City agreed to a Memorandum of <br />Understanding ("RPFA MOU") for the period of July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2023; and <br />WHEREAS, the Parties now wish to clarify their intentions with respect to Article 21 and <br />Article 47, Section 47.03 of the RPFA MOU; and <br />WHEREAS, representatives of the City and RPFA have met and conferred in good faith, <br />and now wish to effect changes with respect to Article 21 and Article 47, Section 47.03 of the <br />RPFA MOU; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises contained herein, RPFA <br />and the City agree as follows: <br />AGREEMENT <br />Article 21 of the RPFA MOU, entitled "Longevity Pay," is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />Employees in the unit with 19 years of continuous service with the City of Redlands shall <br />advance to Step 7 on the salary schedule. In the event that a unit member is not at Step 6 <br />when he/she is eligible for Step 7, the unit member will advance to the next step in their <br />salary range and continue to advance based on merit until the unit member reaches Step 7. <br />Effective July 1, 2021, employees in the unit with 14 years of continuous service with the <br />City of Redlands shall advance to Step 6 on the salary schedule. In the event that a unit <br />member is not at Step 5 when he/she is eligible for Step 6, the unit member will advance <br />to the next step in their salary range and continue to advance based on merit until the unit <br />member reaches Step 6. <br />Article 47, Section 47.03, of the RPFA MOU, entitled "Accrual Payment upon Retirement," is <br />hereby amended to include the addition of Subsection C as follows: <br />C. Upon service or medical retirement under the PERS retirement plan, unit members shall <br />deposit the cash value of their vacation, floating holidays, and comp time into the <br />401(a) program up to the maximum allowed by law. <br />
