DOC #2021-0550428 Page 2 of 4 <br />RESOLUTION NO 8281 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS <br />DESIGNATING THE BUILDING REFERRED TO AS THE "REDLANDS <br />MASONIC LODGE" LOCATED AT 131 CAJON STREET AS A HISTORIC <br />RESOURCE (HISTORIC RESOURCE DESIGNATION NO 137) <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2 62 of the Redlands Municipal Code establishes rules and <br />regulations governing the designation, preservation, and perpetuation of City historic and scenic <br />resources, and <br />WHEREAS, the property owner has applied for and requested designation of the structures <br />located at 131 Cajon Street as historical resources, and <br />WHEREAS, the Histonc and Scenic Preservation Commission held a duly noticed public <br />hearing on October 7, 2021, to consider the designation of the structure at 131 Cajon Street as <br />histonc resources, and <br />WHEREAS, on October 7, 2021, the Histonc and Scenic Preservation Commission <br />adopted a resolution nominating the structures at 131 Cajon Street as local historic resources in <br />accordance with procedures established in Chapter 2 62 of the Redlands Municipal Code, and <br />WHEREAS, on November 27, 2021, the City Clerk caused a public notice to be published <br />in a newspaper of general circulation in the City, and <br />WHEREAS, on December 7, 2021, the City Council held a duly noticed public hearing to <br />consider the recommendation of the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS <br />Section 1. The City Council hereby determines that the approval of this Resolution is <br />exempt from environmental review in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act <br />("CEQA") pursuant to section 15061(b)(3) of the State CEQA Guidelines because it can be seen <br />with certainty that there is no possibility that designation of the above -referenced structure as an <br />historic resources may have a significant impact on the environment <br />Section 2 The three-story brick building located at 131 Cajon Street (APN 0171-301- <br />02-0000) is hereby designated as an histonc resource in accordance with the provisions and criteria <br />contained m Section 2 62 170 of the Redlands Municipal Code The building was constructed in <br />1909 by Fred T Hams and the Taylor Brothers bnck contractors The building is pnmanly two <br />stones, with a partial third story set back towards the rear, and it has been previously modified In <br />1935, a one-story addition was added to the front and back of the building, expanding the dining <br />room and adding a small stage and additional office space The structure is strongly identified <br />with a person or persons who significantly contnbuted to the culture, history or development <br />through its association with Redlands Lodge No 300's Redlands Masonic Lodge, is one of the <br />1 <br />I \Resolutions\Res 8200 8299\8281 Histonc Resource Designation No 137 docx <br />
