RESOLUTION NO. 8365 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, <br />CALIFORNIA PROVIDING FOR THE FILING OF PRIMARY AND <br />REBUTTAL ARGUMENTS AND SETTING RULES FOR FILING OF <br />WRITTEN ARGUMENTS REGARDING A CITY MEASURE TO BE <br />SUBMITTED AT THE NOVEMBER 8, 2022, GENERAL MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION <br />WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election is to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, <br />pursuant to Resolution No. 8364 of the City Council, adopted July 5, 2022, at which there will be <br />submitted to the voters the following Measure: <br />"Shall a measure be adopted to increase the City's existing <br />business license tax on distribution centers within the City <br />from the current rate of four and seven -tenths cents ($0.047) <br />per gross square foot to ten and one-half cents ($0.105) per <br />square foot for the purpose of raising an estimated $530,000 <br />in revenue annually until ended by voters to defray the costs <br />of providing City services and to supplement the City's <br />YES <br />NO <br />General Fund for general government use?" <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redlands, California, does hereby <br />resolve, declare, determine, and order as follows: <br />Section 1. The City Council authorizes (i) the City Council or any member(s) of the <br />City Council, (ii) any individual voter eligible to vote on the above measure, (iii) a bona fide <br />association of such citizens or (iv) any combination of voters and associations, to file a written <br />argument in favor of or against the Measure, in accordance with Article 4, Chapter 3, Division 9 <br />of the Elections Code of the State of California, which arguments may be changed until and <br />including Monday, July 25, 2022 at 5:00 p.m., in the City Clerk's Office, Civic Center, 35 Cajon <br />Street, Suite 4, Redlands, California, after which no arguments for or against the Measure may be <br />submitted to the City Clerk. Arguments in favor of or against the Measure shall each not exceed <br />300 words in length. Each argument shall be filed with the City Clerk, signed, and include the <br />printed name(s) and signature(s) of the author(s) submitting it, or if submitted on behalf of an <br />organization, the name of the organization, and the printed name and signature of at least one of <br />its principal officers who is the author of the argument. <br />The City Council expressly delegates Mayor Pro Tempore Tejeda to prepare, sign and file, <br />along with four other qualified persons, a written argument in favor of the Measure. <br />Section 2. That pursuant to Sections 9220 and 9285 of the California Elections Code, <br />when the City Clerk has selected the arguments for and against the Measure which will be printed <br />and distributed to the voters, the City Clerk shall send copies of the argument in favor of the <br />Measure to the authors of the argument against, and copies of the argument against to the authors <br />of the argument in favor.
