RESOLUTION NO. 8461 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS <br />ASSIGNING AN AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) <br />COORDINATOR, UPDATING A GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE FOR <br />COMPLAINTS RELATING TO THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES <br />ACT, AND RESCINDING RESOLUTIONS NO. 6248 AND 7171 <br />WHEREAS, assigning an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator and updating <br />the grievance procedure for complaints relating to the ADA is needed for the City of Redlands; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby authorizes the City Manager, or <br />his/her designee, to be an ADA Coordinator. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby adopts the following Grievance <br />procedure pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act: <br />"This Grievance Procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with <br />Disabilities Act. It may be used by any member of the public who wishes to file a complaint alleging <br />discrimination on the basis of his or her disability and the policies or the provision of services, <br />activities, and programs of the City of Redlands. <br />The complaint should be in writing and contain information about the alleged discrimination <br />such as the name, address, and phone number of the complainant, and the location, date, and <br />description of the problem. Alternative means of filing complaints such as personal interviews or a <br />recording of the complaint will be made available for persons with disabilities upon request. <br />The complaint should be submitted by the complainant as soon as possible, but not later than <br />sixty (60) calendar days after the alleged violation, to: <br />ADA Coordinator <br />City of Redlands <br />P.O. Box 3005 <br />35 Cajon Street, Suite 15A <br />Redlands, CA 92373 <br />(909) 798-7584 <br />Within fifteen (15) calendar days after receipt of the complaint, the City's ADA Coordinator <br />will meet with the complainant to discuss the complaint and its possible resolution. Within fifteen <br />(15) calendar days after the meeting, the City will respond in writing, and where appropriate, in a <br />format accessible to the complainant, such as large print, Braille, or audio tape.
