2 . The City is subject to extremely strong <br /> rinds , commonly referred to as "Santa Ana winds , " which <br /> Can reach speeds Of 80 miles ger hour . Extensive <br /> damage often occurs during such winds including downed <br /> trees , utility poles, utility circuits and utility <br /> service lines . These adverse conditions cause : <br /> ( 1 ) fires, ( 2 ) impairment of emergency apparatus <br /> access , ( 3 ) delays in response times of emergency <br /> apparatuS , and ( 4 ) the depletion of apparatus readily <br /> available for Fire suppression activities . For <br /> example , one wind storm lasted for approximately six <br /> hours and downed, over 200 trees Citywide in 1985 . In <br /> 1989 , the City experienced a 24 hour period of severe <br /> winds during which scares of utility lines were downed <br /> in the Citi► impairing emergency access . On one <br /> occasion fire units from Redlands were sent to assist <br /> in the extinguishment of a fast moving, wind assisted <br /> Fire in the Sari Bernardino Eighland Foothills which <br /> destroyed or damaged many homes . These units were then <br /> unavailable for fire suppression in the City . <br /> 3 . Within tri@ City there are four earthquake <br /> faults ( Redlands Heights Fault , Banning Fault , Crafton <br /> Fault and the Redlands Fault ) : three other faults are <br /> located in immediately adjacent areas ( Loma Linda <br /> -2- <br />
