RESOLUTION HONORING <br />DR, GEORGE H. ARMACOST <br />WHEREAS, the People of the City of Redlands are grateful <br />to Dr. George H. Armacost for his valuable contributions to Red- <br />lands and his inspired leadership achievements as President of <br />the University of Redlands <br />His efforts to forge close bonds of friendship between <br />the People of Redlands and the University community. <br />His part in building the prestige of the University of <br />Redlands in the academic world and expanding the University faci- <br />lity as a major center of education <br />His belief that individual initiative and community spirit <br />can thrive together. <br />His promotion of standards of scholarship and responsible <br />citizenship on the campus <br />His maintenance of a balanced curriculum to produce the <br />1,.hole person, steeped in the humanities, and proficient in his <br />field of endeavor. <br />His determination to adapt technology to the betterment of <br />mankind and his confidence that by his spirit and education, man <br />will be the master of his destiny, not its slave <br />His dedication to a truly humane society based upon sound <br />reason and the rule of law. <br />His contributions toward a constructive relationship of <br />students and faculty with the community that has made the People <br />of Redlands take renewed pride in their association with the Uni- <br />versity. <br />His belief in the moral perspective in education based on <br />both freedom of thought and faith in God. <br />1 <br />
