RESOLUTION NO 8294 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS <br />INSTITUTING PROCEEDINGS FOR THE CONTINUED LEVY OF <br />ASSESSMENTS, APPOINTING AN ASSESSMENT ENGINEER, AND <br />ORDERING THE PREPARATION OF AN ENGINEER'S REPORT IN THE <br />MATTER OF STREET LIGHTING DISTRICT NO 1 AND LANDSCAPE <br />MAINTENANCE DISTRICT NO 1 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands (this "City Council") has determined <br />that the public interest, convenience and necessity requires the installation, operation and <br />maintenance of a street lighting system and other facilities as set forth in Section 22525 of the <br />California Streets and Highways Code, and <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by this City Council that the public interest, <br />convenience and necessity requires the maintenance of landscaping as set forth in Section 22525 <br />of the California Streets and Highways Code, and <br />WHEREAS, this City Council has formed Redlands' Street Lighting District No 1 to pay <br />the costs associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of such street lighting system <br />and other facilities, and <br />WHEREAS, this City Council has formed Redlands' Landscape Maintenance District No <br />1 to pay the costs for the maintenance such landscaping; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this City Council to initiate proceedings and order the <br />preparation of an engineer's report to levy assessments for fiscal year 2022-2023 upon properties <br />located within Street Lighting District No 1 and Landscape Maintenance District No 1, and <br />WHEREAS, this City Council further desires to appoint Redlands' Engineering Manager, <br />Goutam Dobey, RCE No 75646, as the "Assessment Engineer" for Street Lighting District No 1 <br />and Landscape Maintenance District No 1, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redlands does hereby find, determine <br />and resolve as follows <br />Section 1. That the public interest, convenience and necessity requires the continued <br />levy of assessments within Street Lighting District No 1 for the purpose of installing, operating <br />and maintaining street lights and associated facilities as authorized by Section 22620 of the <br />California Streets and Highways Code and in compliance with Article XIIID, and Section 19 of <br />Article XVI, of the California Constitution. <br />Section 2. That the public interest, convenience and necessity requires the continued <br />levy of assessments within Landscape Maintenance District No 1 for the purpose of maintaining <br />landscaping and improvements as authorized by Section 22620 of the California Streets and <br />1 <br />L.\ca\Reso\8294 SLD and LMD Appoint Engineer.docx <br />
