B. New Members <br />1. PEPRA shall in its entirety be given full force and effect as it may from time to time exist, during <br />and after the term of this MOU, as described below. Any provision in this MOU which contradicts <br />any provision of PEPRA shall be deemed null and void, with the contrary PEPRA provision(s) being <br />given full force and effect. <br />2. Unit employees who are "new members" as defined in PEPRA, shall individually pay an initial <br />Member CALPERS contribution rate of 50% of the normal cost rate (as defined and calculated by <br />CaIPERS) for the Defined Benefit Plan in which said newly hired member is enrolled, rounded to <br />the nearest quarter of 1%, or the current contribution rate of similarly situated employees, <br />whichever is greater. (PEPRA — Government Code section 7522.30) <br />3. Unit employees who are "new members," as defined in PEPRA, on and after January 1, 2013, shall <br />be enrolled in the PEPRA retirement plan of 2%@62 (Government Code section 7522.20(a), with <br />final pensionable compensation (as defined for new members in Government Code § 7522.34) <br />being determined by reference to the highest average annual pensionable compensation earned <br />during a period of 36 consecutive months. (Government Code § 7522.32(a).) <br />Article 7. EDUCATION INCENTIVE PAY <br />Employees will qualify for a three percent (3%) increase in base salary upon submitting satisfactory proof <br />of a Master or Doctoral degree (i.e., official transcripts) where such degree is not required as part of the <br />employee's minimum job qualifications. If a Master's degree is required as part of the employee's <br />minimum job qualifications, the employee will only be eligible for education incentive pay upon <br />submitting satisfactory proof of a Doctoral degree. <br />Article 8. LONGEVITY PAY <br />A. Employees with fifteen (15) years continuous service with the City, shall advance to Step "5" on the <br />salary schedule which shall be a minimum of three percent (3%) higher than Step "4," effective with <br />the beginning of the pay period closest to completion of their fifteenth (15th) year of service. <br />B. Employees with twenty (20) years continuous service with the City, shall advance to Step "6" on the <br />salary schedule which shall be a minimum of two percent (2%) higher than Step "5," effective with <br />the beginning of the pay period closest to completion of their twentieth (20th) year of service. <br />C. In the event that an employee is not at Step 4 when he/she is eligible for Step 5, at the completion of <br />fifteen (15) years of service, the employee will advance to the next step in the salary range and <br />continue to advance based on merit until the employee reaches Step 5. <br />D. In the event that an employee is not at Step 5 when he/she is eligible for the Step 6, at the completion <br />of twenty (20) years of service, the employee will advance to the next step in the salary range and <br />continue to advance based on merit until the employee reaches Step 6. <br />City of Redlands 1 RCSEA - MOU 2023-2026 <br />
