ORDINANCE NO. 1069 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 887, ORDINANCE <br />NO. 982, ORDINANCE NO. 947 AND OTHER ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERETO. <br />THE TITLE OF THIS ORDINANCE IS AS FOLLOWS: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION, <br />INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF BILLBOARDS AND SIGNS, PROVIDING FOR <br />PERMITS AND INSPECTION AND FIXING FEES TEREOF, FOR PROVIDING PENALTIES <br />FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. <br />The City Council of the City of Redlands does ordain as follows: <br />SECTION 100 DEFINITIONS <br />For the purpose of this ordinance, certain terms used herein <br />are defined as follows: <br />(a) Al1ev Is a public thoroughfare not designed for general <br />travel and primarily used as a means of access to the rear or side of <br />residences and business establishments. <br />(b) Approval or Approved - Refers to the approval of method <br />or material by the Building Official. <br />(c) Billboard - Refers to a structure of any kind or character, <br />erected or maintained for outdocer advertising purposes, upon which any <br />poster, bill, printing, painting or other advertisement of any kind <br />whatsoever may be placed, including statuary, for advertising purposes. <br />(d) Building Official Is the Head of the Inspection Depart- <br />ment or his regularly authorized deputy. <br />(e) Certified Architect Is one who has passed the examination <br />of the State Board of Architectural Examiners and has been issued a <br />certificate by that Board to practice architecture. <br />(f) Curb Line - Is the top face of a curb or, when the curb is <br />not in place, -the established curb line. <br />(g) Dwelling m Is a building or any portion thereof which <br />contains one or more apartments or guest rooms uses., intended or <br />designed to be used, rented, leased, let or hired out to be occupied <br />or which is occupied for living purposes. <br />(h) Electric Si„fin, d Is a billboard or sign served or energized <br />with electrical current for purpose of illumination or for any other <br />purpose. <br />(i) Electric Sign Contractor , Is a person who engages in or <br />carries on the business of erecting, installing, moving, maintaining or <br />altering electric signs and such business is referred to herein as the <br />electric sign contracting business. <br />(j) Face of Building = Means the general outermost surface <br />of any main exterior wall of a building but the term shall not include <br />a cornice, bay window, balcony, porch or other feature which extends <br />beyond the general outermost surface of such exterior wall or beyond <br />a property line. <br />1 <br />
