ORDINANCE NO. 2979 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING CHAPTER <br />5.04 (BUSINESS TAXES, LICENSES AND REGULATIONS) OF THE <br />REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO ANNUAL AND <br />SEMIANNUAL BUSINESS LICENSES. <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 5.04 (Business Taxes, Licenses and Regulations) of the Redlands <br />Municipal Code sets forth regulations related to the issuance of business licenses and the <br />schedule of payment of business license fees; and <br />WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2979 would amend Chapter 5.04 of the Redlands Municipal <br />Code to align due dates for the payment of business license fees with the calendar year rather <br />than fiscal year and clarifying ambiguous language. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The table set forth in Chapter 5.04, titled "BUSINESS LICENSES <br />GENERALLY," is hereby amended as to Section 5.04.410 to read as follows: <br />"5.04.410: PAYMENT; ANNUAL WHEN UNSPECIFIED" <br />Section 2. Chapter 5.04, titled "BUSINESS LICENSES GENERALLY," Section <br />5.04.130 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"5.04.130: EXEMPTION UNDER FEDERAL OR STATE LAW: <br />Nothing in this chapter or chapter 5.08 of this title contained shall be deemed or construed as <br />applying to any person, firm, or corporation conducting, managing or carrying on or engaged in <br />any business or occupation exempt from taxation by municipal corporations by virtue of the <br />constitution and laws of the United States or of the state of California. However, such businesses <br />exempt from taxation pursuant to this section, are required to obtain a city business license." <br />Section 3. Chapter 5.04, titled `BUSINESS LICENSES GENERALLY," Section <br />5.04.390 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"5.04.390: PAYMENT; ANNUAL DUE DATE: <br />All annual license fees shall become due and payable January 1 each year, unless otherwise <br />provided. The annual license period is defined as the calendar year January through December" <br />Section 4.
